V Jump Lists Final Fantasy Versus XIII For Xbox 360

According to Aibo at Square Enix super fan site Final Fantasy Reunion, the latest issue of V Jump lists the platform for Final Fantasy Versus XIII as both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360:

The image itself is most likely legit, as I believe it's Aibo himself with the magazine. Of course, it's doubtful that Square Enix would announce a 360 version of one of its biggest games in the information box of a V Jump article, so this is likely a case of V Jump making a little printing error.

Aibo has sent a Tweet off to V Jump asking for clarification.

Update 14:26 -- V Jump has responded to Aibo's inquiry via Twitter. The Xbox 360 listing was indeed a mistake.

Square Enix Seeking Final Fantasy Versus XIII Planners

Square Enix seems to be serious about this whole Final Fantasy Versus XIII thing. In fact, to speed up completion of the project, they're taking the extraordinary measure of actually hiring new staff.

A visual from a recruitment page off the Square Enix site:

http://www.andriasang.com/blog/2010/10/18/ff_versus_xiii_planners/images/2132429267_view.jpg

The notice says that Square Enix is seeking a large number of planners for Versus XIII. There are two specific listings: battle planner and level design planner.

Battle planner requires such work as creation of enemy characters for an action RPG, "creation of the battle concept for each chapter, field and dungeon," formation of "enemy character algorithms, parameter settings and other data work," and management of graphics resources. This position asks for people with experience making PS3 and Xbox 360 package games and those with knowledge of battles and level creation.

Level design planner requires such work as "development of action games" and "creation of level design based off the scenario." This position requires that candidates have experience making action games.

Both jobs are out of Square Enix's Shinjuku studio.

Nomura Tweets About Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Looks like Tetsuya Nomura is putting The 3rd Birthday's Twitter account to full use. Earlier this week he kicked off by saying that he was under orders to tweet about Square Enix's reboot of Parasite Eve; however, he'll now be using it to provide fans with updates on other games that he is working on, like Final Fantasy Versus and Agito XIII.

Nomura went on to talk a bit more about Versus, explaining that the overworld isn't quite as open as most think it is. In fact, it's similar in concept to pre-PlayStation era Final Fantasies,

"There have been many questions regarding fields. It's not a completely open world. It's like the 2D FF games in HD. Although, in terms of looks, it's not a top-down view, it's like the screenshots that have been released. You'll move through the world from that view."
Nomura also revealed a bit on how far along the pipeline Versus and Agito were, saying that both games are "presently undergoing voice casting. 3rd's recording will end shortly. Next up is Agito."

And for those of you hoping to see Noctis and Stella at Gamescom this month, you'll be disappointed to know that neither will be making an appearance. Square Enix will be exhibiting only Kingdom Hearts and The 3rd Birthday at the event.

We'll have to wait for the Tokyo Game Show in September for anything on Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

No Versus XIII at gamescom, in process of voice casting

ffversusxiii

Just in case you had any small hope for a German-based re-reveal of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, we’re here to break it in two: it won’t be in Cologne next week.

Director Tetsuya Nomura revealed the news on the 3rd Birthday Twitter account. Instead, the only projects he’s involved in that will be at gamescom are The 3rd Birthday for PSP and Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded.

He did mention, however, that VXIII is now in the process of voice casting.

The last time anything proper was heard on the game was when a trailer was shown behind closed doors at Jump Fiesta, the footage including the phrase, “Revelation will come next time”.

Nomura also mentioned he was still working on unannounced titles, such asthose for Kingdom Hearts.

“There are a number of unannounced titles,” he said. “These will come before Agito and Versus. Some have finished voice recording. Announcements will take place in Japan.”

TGS, then?

Cosplay Of The Week: Stella Nox Fleuret

We're back again with yet another cosplay of the week! If you missed the last one, we featured the lovely blacklash90 who cosplayed as Oerba Yun Fang from Final Fantasy XIII. You can check out more of her cosplays over at her deviantArt page where she has since put up even more shots of herself as Fang.

This week we have a cosplay from Stella on the forums, also known as RinoaMao on deviantArt. She's done quite a wonderful job cosplaying as Stella Nox Fleuret from Final Fantasy Versus XIII. In fact, she's even recreated one of the iconic scenes from the trailer thanks to some really ingenious photography.

She was also kind enough to spare a few details on how long it took to make the costume, which was completed over three months. The costume consists of various custom made pieces and the jewelry was even made with freshwater pearls. An absolutely lovely job, Stella.

Check out the details

Final Fantasy Versus XIII scenario complete, confirms Dengeki

Last week’s Famitsu interview with Final Fantasy Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura was followed up with a similar interview in this week’s Dengeki PlayStation. While the contents of the interview were mostly the same, there were some important tidbits mentioned in Dengeki that missed the Famitsu coverage.

According to the magazine, the game’s scenario is fully complete. We’re guessing that means the story and script are fully written and finished.

Character designs are also finished. Nomura promises that Versus XIII’s character designs are definitive and will be revealed in due time. All their clothing has been completed, as well, which as we know are designed by Japanese clothing manufacturer Roen.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be at the Tokyo Game Show this year. It’s already been confirmed. Stay tuned as September draws near.

Full Final Fantasy Versus XIII Famitsu Scans and Interview

Is this a real-time screenshot we’re looking? The image quality is very good.
Yes it’s an image in real-time using the real hardware. We aim to improve the quality you’re seeing now even further. As of now we can’t share more details in full scale right now, so we removed the menus and subscreens where it shows Noctis expression (image projected on the subscreen).

Were the party members also there originally?
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b78/Kugata/ec92d9fa.jpg?t=1277417327
Yes, we removed because we haven’t formally announced their weapons and clothes yet.

The exquisiteness and shades are like a photograph taken from real life.

Indeed, we’re using physical calculations to determine the movement of the clouds. By this time it allow us to filter sunlight and others on Versus XIII.

Is the cliff to the wilderness & the Gas Station set in the same location?
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b78/Kugata/1d436137.jpg?t=1277417374
Yes in the back of the Store is the cliff to the extended wilderness. You can walk all the way, to everything you see but the mountains.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b78/Kugata/25e4f2b9.jpg?t=1277417376

What’s this giant Enemy on the other screen?
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b78/Kugata/bb08ae20.jpg?t=1277417425
It’s a Military Behemoth and he actually bears a huge sword in his back. As for this pictures, the battle screen were on the screen but we omitted it.

Q: The street of Shinjuku is real.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b78/Kugata/ae275a09.jpg?t=1277417458
Yes, it’s our model for this, even the bicycle lanes and crosswalks are decipted. But the sense of distance has been changed a bit since the last time. Right out of the city you encounter the wilderness with electric wires every as it’s this kind of territory for this country.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b78/Kugata/4c071132.jpg?t=1277417459

This region, It is only the Prologue, the early stages, nature is so even there.
Movement around this area is easy because you can use a car. Getting on and off the car can be done anytime, but only not possible to go all the way through it because it leads to a region underwater that has been shown on promotional trailers before.

Monsters appear on the field?
(Laughter)…Yes, there are monsters that appear on the field; Some staff were doing the tests and were surprised by how good looking some are in the evening sun.

Are the battles seamless, what about the world?
It’s basically seamless and we aim to make it even more seamless, but there are loadings between big areas.

Information disclosure, is very restrict as of now.
Development is very advanced along and according to expectations we’re taking steady steps; wait at ease please, information on Versus XIII will come. Moreover, we’re making preparations for a Big announcement.

You can actually see a signboard and things written inside in the screenshot?
The signboard is still temporary even though the inside of the Gas Station is modeled after the Stations in the US in detail. It’s possible to go up there using the stairs.

Do you play in this perspective the whole game?
Yes. The camera basically sits in this position. We decided to priority to the character’s presence and the world; that said we decided to scrap the over the shoulder perspective of the world.
